OUR STORY
How It All Started
The Mandinka Association Brooks was founded by a small group of Mandinka families who arrived in Brooks, Alberta and recognized the need for a space where their culture, language, and traditions could be kept alive. What began as informal gatherings in living rooms and community halls grew into an organized association dedicated to the wellbeing of every Mandinka family in the region.
Today, BMA stands as a bridge — connecting those who are newly arrived with those who have built roots, and connecting all members to the rich heritage of the Mandinka people.
